Polanco
Polanco is located just in front of Chapultepec Forest and it is one of the most dynamic areas in the city. In this neighbourhood you'll be able fo find the most sophisticated hotels, restaurants and the best shopping district. The main attraction of Polanco is being residential and commercial at the same time. Elegant flats and boutiques turn the area into a strategic business hub. Nevertheless it still has its original trendy atmosphere, great dinner options and at night it offers some of the best clubs in the city.
During the 1920's the the XVIIth Century Hacienda de los Morales, Polanco and Anzures fields were converted into a new neighbourhood for the emerging upper class of Mexico City. The old Hacienda de los Morales is now an splendid Restaurant with a historic atmosphere and sophisticated Mexican cuisine.
Eclectic and nationalist styles, along with the Colonial Californian Style flourished in Polanco. Baroque facades were adorned with elaborated limestone door fringes and front gardens along with entrance halls. Some of these houses turned into furniture shops and transformed with brilliant colours and glass coverings.
During the 1950's Polanco received families of Jewish, Lebaneese and Spanish inmigrants, who left the City Centre to live in this fashionalble neighbourhood (called Colonias). During the sixties some embassies, art galeries established in the area, atracting large corporations, shops, first-class hotels and even the Mexican Ministry of Tourism. An endless list of restaurants came afterwards, some of which we mention here, since every week a new club or restaurant opens.
If you are an art-lover or collector you might like visiting David Alfaro Siquerios Museum (Tres Picos No.29). On the other side of Reforma Avenue, at Chapultepec Park you can visit also Rufino Tamayo Museum for contemporary art; the superb Antropology Museum, containing the largest collection of Folk and pre-columbian art in America, and the Modern Art Museum, which offers a synthesis of XX'th Century Mexican Art.
Polanco has lovely quiet areas such as Parque Lincon, along Emilio Castelar street as well as busy and trendy places full of party goers and luxury boutiques along Masaryk Avenue. For this reason you will notice more Police forces looking after the area, making your visit more safety.

Polanco has contemporary architectural buildings, proudly showing the importance of Mexico City.
